The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a non-profit organisation that operates on a Public-Private-Partnership model. As an implementing partner of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, It receives continuous support from the Government of India, the various State governments and associated organisations. The programme has grown tremendously since its inception, from feeding 1,500 children in the year 2000 to over 1.6 million children in 2017. With hygiene and cleanliness as our utmost priority, Akshaya Patra’s kitchen in Hyderabad currently prepares mid-day meals for 62,020 children every day.
Along with the Government of India’s partial support, the Foundation also depends on corporate funds, philanthropic donors, volunteers and well-wishers for managing this large operation. The details of the operations include technological innovations, quality standards, delivery vehicles and interactions with various stakeholders.
Our vision - ‘No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger’ – heartens us to ensure children get one full meal on every school day.
